This month we are paying homage to the unsung heroes of the veggie world, those left behind in the wake of the cauli-revolution and the foraging finds of the ocean or forest. We’re talking about the carrot, turnip, cabbage & onion. It’s super trendy right now to search out unique ‘interesting’ veggies to experiment with, but the good old fashioned standby veggies really do deserve their place in the sun! “Lettuce turn’ip the beet!” These are our fave ways to eat these veggies: Carrots – Kirsty loves those really big carrots which she eats raw for breakfast. They are sweet, crunchy and take forever to eat, so you get full really quickly! Cabbage – Gary makes a mean Asian slaw. Look out for his recipe later this month! Onion – Caramelise sliced onion with yellow mustard seeds. Turnip – Roast and blend into a soup with crème fraiche and loads of fresh herbs. Delicious What are your favourite ways to enjoy these old faithfuls?
