On the 24th of March, Ruinart Champagne and Louis Vuitton came together, in an extremely chic collaboration, to host a dinner and “trunk show” at the exquisite Centre of the Book in Cape Town. However, a Louis Vuitton trunk show isn’t exactly an everyday experience, but rather, to those lucky enough to be invited, the opportunity to buy supremely valuable Louis Vuitton trunks.

The canapés and three course meal were all composed to compliment the elegance of the evening. Freshly shucked West Coast oysters with compressed cucumber and lime pearls, wild mushroom risotto bonbons and a melt-in-the-mouth seared salmon tataki were just three of the superb canapés served. The guests were then treated to a three course dinner starting with: seared scallops with a parmesan crisp, pickled shmeji mushrooms and cauliflower or a vegetable terrine with pickled veg, savoy cabbage and a saffron cream. Mains were equally as tantalising serving: crispy skin Atlantic Salmon, dashi, bok choi, a miso emulsion and herby green oil or shiitake mushrooms with a butternut puree, mustard greens and a silky shallot crema. To wrap up the evening, a sumptuous chocolate cremaux was served with raspberry meringue and matcha.

The Ruinart and Louis Vuitton dinner and trunkshow was a sophisticated evening filled with endless champagne, delicious food, beautiful cocktails by the Geometric Drinks Company and lavish Louis Vuitton trunks, all in a breath taking venue. Its fair to say, it was an incredible night for everyone invited!
