Our chefs, food scientists & food technologists formulate your product for taste and texture as well as keeping shelf stability and costing in mind.
Throughout this phase we will complete recipe development, source ingredients, test and provide you with samples.
We will also complete a costing as well as source a suitable co-manufacturer.
Specifically with beverages, our beverage development consultants will assist in a scalability trial in which the chosen co-manufacturer would complete a small factory trial.
This is an essential step to ensure everything will run smoothly on production day.
We facilitate all required laboratory testing to ensure your product meets its claims and achieves the required shelf life. We will send and interpret your results for nutritional testing, accelerated shelf life testing, aluminium compatibility testing and any other required tests for vitamins, minerals, caffeine and alcohol.
We will source all the required packaging and help bring your brand to life. Our design team can design your logo, packaging and brand guide and our Food Scientists will assist with label legislation to ensure your labels are fully compliant
We manage your first production run, liaising with manufacturers, packaging suppliers, and printers.
We oversee the process to ensure quality and effeciency.
Source Food was tasked with the development of a range of six cocktails – Margarita, Paloma, Mojito, Negroni, Old Fashioned and Espresso Martini.
These little pocket cocktails pack a punch at 14.9% in a 150 ml can.
We managed all stages of the product development process including developing samples and sourcing ingredients as well as managing production runs.
Currently stocked in Checkers nationwide, these are fast becoming a favourite.
Source Food handles all packaging design for the King Pie frozen range.
Our service included sourcing packaging, conducting label legislative assessment, and photography shoot management for the entire range which included standard pies, family sized pies, cocktail pies, samosas and sauces.
The clients at Fyn came to Source Food with a formulation, packaging and a range of suppliers but they needed a team to help them bring it all together.
Source Food therefore managed the packaging sign off process, completed legislative label assessment, ensured everything ran smoothly for their first run and managed product photography which was needed for their website.
Source Food completed our full turnkey product development solution for The Sunny Club which included development, sourcing manufacturers, sourcing ingredients, a 100 L factory trial, laboratory testing, packaging supplier sourcing, packaging design, label legislative assessment and production facilitation. The product range consists of two flavours – peach and lemon and it is a hard iced tea with 4.5% alcohol.
A well known frozen meal client approached us to review their current range, improve certain meal items and also launch a new range. We therefore assisted in the development of 24 new meals, production ready according to their specifications and scaled up to their required batch sizes.
We also completed theoretical nutritional analysis, ingredient list compilations, supplier sourcing and food styling and photography to use on their packaging and website.

The product range consists of two flavours – margarita and palomarita which has 4.5% alcohol using premium agave spirit. These drinks are currently stocked in Pick ‘n Pay Liquor Nationwide and select TOPS & Norman Goodfellows in Cape Town and Johannesburg.
